Spending an estimated 2.3 million dollars to remodel Hennepin county's garbage burner located in downtown Minneapolis is like putting perfume on a pig. It is still a pig.

To this day I cannot understand why a garbage burner was built in downtown Minneapolis as private back yard garbage burning was banned in the early 1970's. The garbage burner is the largest single producer of deadly Dioxin in the state of Minnesota.

Located at 419 5th street north in downtown Minneapolis the garbage burner started polluting Minneapolis late in 1989. The garbage burner takes up 13.12 acres of prime real-estate and pays no property taxes. I am reminded of this whenever I see my property tax statement charge for "Solid waste mgmt fee".
